Another nice one Tom :)
You wouldn't have anything else your hiding would you? ;)....like wizards for doing "simple" Gcode programming at KMotionCNC?

Tom, decided to run 434e on another PC, same touchscreen.  Running Windows 8.1 embedded enterprise 64 bit, and having trouble with loading USB drivers for Kflop.  It shows up in the device manager, but shows no drivers.  I did the following:

1.  Ran the USB driver installer from the download on the site.
2.  Attempted to update the drivers from the 434e usb driver directory, but Windows says no drivers available.

Should I be using another driver package, or is there something I'm missing?

Cheers, David

Tom, this should be added to your wiki.

All, the solution was to follow the exact steps for Windows 10 prep.  The signed drivers install with no error message, but do not work for Windows 8.1 Industry Embedded Enterprise.  I skipped to the following steps:

Click the “Start” button Type “cmd” Right-click the “Command Prompt” listed in the “Start Menu” and choose “Run as Administrator” Click the “Yes” button Type “bcdedit.exe –set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS” without quotes (note: there are two ‘D’s in ‘DDISABLE’ Press the “Enter” key – you should see “The operation completed successfully.” Type “bcdedit.exe –set TESTSIGNING ON” without the quotes Press the “Enter” key – you should see “The operation completed successfully.” Reboot the computer This has succeeded if the screen says “Test Mode” in the bottom right corner

Setup Driver for KFlop Board

Make sure that the controller is powered on and that the USB cable is connected between the computer and the controller.

  • Click the “Start” button and type “Device Manager”
  • Press the “Enter” key
  • Under “Other Devices”, right-click “KFLOP – Motion Controller” and choose “Update Driver Software…”
  • Click the “Browse my computer for driver software” button
  • Use the “Browse…” button to select the folder that KMotion was installed in (i.e. “C:\KMotion433q”)
  • Click the “Next” button
  • On the “Windows Security” screen, click the “Install this driver software anyway” button
  • The screen should end with “Windows has successfully updated your driver software”

KMotionCNC now requires the VS2015 redistributables. Did the install
prompt you to load those?

VS2015 now has a Universal Run Time Library that should be automatically
installed by Windows Update. Have you ran Windows Update?

I think VS2015 requires XP Service Pack 3 as well.

Oh thanks Tom!

I will look into the update status. I am confident that is probably the issue as that system is not connected to the net.

Good to know xp should still viable as all my machine systems are still running essentially discarded computers.

Tom,

After update the problem remains. Looks like the .net framework 4.6.2 has win 7 as minimum req.

xp is capable of .net framework 4. only

When I install 4.34e it does prompt for vs2015 but gives me a blocking message about the .net framework system requirement not being met.

Hi Andrew,

KMotionCNC and KMotion don't require .NET (only the KMotionCNC ScreenEditor to edit Screens which you might do on another PC)

I don't understand the blocking message?  But you might also download the VS2015 Redistributables from Microsoft.

Hi Tom,

Good to know the .net framework only applies to the editor. I can easily use another computer to do the editing.

As far as the errors go, the blocking notice occurs during installation process, and applies to just the .net framework, witch I think occurs because xp is not compatible with 4.6.2. The vs2015 seems to be installed properly and is listed in the add/remove programs of control pannel. The entire kmotion434e directory seems to be installed as well.

When I attempt to start either the kmotioncnc or kmotion programs I get an error that states the kmotion.exe is not a valid win32 application, and will not start.

I installed the VS2015 Redistributables from Microsoft without a problem, but nothing changed after this was done.

Hi Andrew,

Please try unzipping and copying these Microsoft Universal c Run Time Libraries to the C:\KMotion434\KMotion\Release folder to see if it solves the problem.

Hi Tom,

   Thanks!

That fixed a vista computer that popped up an error about api files missing after installing. 434e now runs on a vista system that was choking.

The xp system still pops the same not a valid win32 application error.

Hi Andrew,

Please download this, unzip it, copy the 4 files to C:\KMotion434e\KMotion\Release and see if KMotionCNC.exe runs.

 Hi Tom,

Just checked a fresh 434e install on a different xp system, and added the files from our last few rounds to the release folder and get the same result on all three.

not a valid win32 application

vs2015 is being automatically installed without a problem, so I did not go to the windows site to download it this time. The .net framework gave the same minimum system error.

All three are service pack 3 in the control panel system tab.

Is there a way to check that the windows updates have executed properly?

Hi Andrew,

I see from timestamps I included the old KMotionCNC.exe by mistake and also forgot KMotionServer.exe

Please download, unzip, and copy the files from here again:

http://dynomotion.com/Software/Patch/KMotionCNC_Compiled_for%20PlatformXP_V434e/KMotionCNCFilesXPv434e.zip

I'm not sure how to check Windows Updates other than Update History.

Hi Tom,

That was it! success! glad you noticed that time stamp thing. Sounds like something I would do, only I would be lost after that!

Also thank you for adding the fanuc comp option too, that is going to be so helpful to me as my cam system does not have an option that emc comp likes, constant hand editing was needed.

Hi Tom,

I'm trying out the 4.34E test version too.

I was having the same problems on XP, not being able to launch kmotionCNC.exe..   I have applied all your patches that you posted to this thread.  I can launch the kmotion CNC.EXE  now, but when I try to launch the kmotion cnc screen editor I get  "KMotionCNCscreenEditor.exe is not a valid win32 application."

Could this also need to be patched?

I'm excited to try the split gcode/gviewer screen

thanks,

Vetsen

BTW, I used .NET V4.0 installer on XP and it seemed to work so far, apart from the screeneditor not loading.

Hi Vetsen,

The Slit Screen should work under XP you should just need to select it.

You only need a more up to date computer OS to run the KMotionCNC Screen Editor to make changes.  Don't you have temporary access to a newer computer?
